Patrick Massaroni is in his first season as a graduate assistant for the JMU men's basketball program, assisting in all off-court activities for the team.

Massaroni arrived in Harrisonburg following four years as a team manager at his alma mater, Marist College.  He served as a manager for the men's program for three seasons, including two years under current JMU head coach Matt Brady (2006-08) and two years as the program's head manager (2007-09).  He spent his final undergraduate year as head team manager for the Marist women's basketball program.  In that season, the Red Foxes and head coach Brian Giorgis captured the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

During his four years at Marist, Massaroni also served internships within the Marist Athletic Department and with the New York Mets.  At Marist, he spent his final semester as an intern in the sports information department assisting with the department website and historical record-keeping.  He spent the summer of 2009 as a sports communication intern with the Mets, assistant with various facets of television production, stadium broadcasting, and scoreboard video content.

Among other athletics-related experience, Massaroni spent five years as a counselor at Swish Hoop Camp in White Plains, N.Y. and was a youth basketball coach for the White Plains Recreation Department.  He also served as commissioner of a 40-team intramural basketball league at Marist during all four academic years.

Massaroni earned a pair of prestigious citizenship honors in July of 2009 for heroic acts related to a fire in a residential complex in Livingston, N.J.  He entered the premise to aid friends and ended up assisting with the evacuation of 17 occupants of the complex.  He was rewarded with both the Archbiship Dolan Service Award and the Citizen Heroism Award, presented by the Toms River, N.J. Fire Department.  He spent 10 days in an intensive care unit (ICU) as a result of his efforts.

Massaroni is a 2010 graduate of Marist with a bachelor's degree in communication and a concentration in sports communication.  He also earned a minor in business administration.  While at JMU, he is pursuing a master's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sport and recreation leadership with the hopes of pursuing a career in coaching.  He currently resides in Harrisonburg.
