- Spotlight on: The newly formed Stepinac swim team.
For the past two months, coach Kevin Stone has been training with the team's six swimmers every day at the White Plains YMCA.
"Two kids on the team have swimming experience," Stone said. "We are hoping the word gets out so that we can drum up some interest for next season.''
Vin Catarinacchio and Ryan O'Connor are the Crusaders' experienced swimmers, both competing for club teams.
Joining them on the team are Mike Nunez, Isaiah Campbell, Devin Thomas and Joe Mastoloni.
The Crusaders weren't formed in time to join the CHSAA, but they do have a meet scheduled for Feb. 2 against Iona Prep.
"Two months is a short time but they have all improved by leaps and bounds," Stone said. "So far, they have been loving it and eating up everything I've been
 teaching them."
Stepinac has joined forces with its sister school, Our Lady of Good Counsel, which has 10 swimmers competing in girls meets.
